Sewer Repairs

Cathedral Street was closed at its junction with North Frederick Street to allow sewer repair work to be carried out safely

Urgent repairs have now been completed on the sewer network beneath Cathedral Street in Glasgow city centre.

A CCTV survey confirmed that the sewer running beneath Cathedral Street had collapsed, which caused voids under the carriageway at its junction with North Frederick Street.

The results clearly showed damage to the sewer and the soil beneath the road surface having been washed away.

The road was therefore closed while we carried out repairs to the network.

We would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding.

Latest Update - 29 June 2026

We have now completed all necessary repairs and associated CCTV surveys of the sewer network.
Cathedral Street was able to fully reopen to traffic last week.

We also worked closely with Glasgow City Council, who carried out planned road resurfacing works under the same road closure while we completed our final CCTV surveys. Coordinating these works helped minimise overall disruption.

We would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we completed these essential repairs.
